A Letter To Medium: Please We Need Additional Payment Options

We know how conducive it is when businesses implement different payment options for their customers and potential customers. They understand how important it is not to lose a customer or potential customer due to limited payment options.

Guys, this is what I am trying to emphasize:

Medium only pays their writers through Stripe. If Medium can add other payment options for writers to get paid, it will increase the motivation of a writer to create more content. This benefit is not exclusive to writers only, but also the creators and management team of Medium. Someone asked me how Medium pays their writers: I told her they only pay through Stripe. She was disappointed due to Stripe not being supported in her country.

These are the ways the addition of other payment options will benefit both the management team of Medium and writers:

• Increasing Referrals. When there are different payment options—it allows writers to choose a payment option that is conducive for them. It will make them stay longer on the platform since they can easily earn on Medium.
• Higher revenue. I mean, this is obvious! Some writers read a lot on this platform. Some writers from countries that are not eligible for the Medium Partnership Program, may not see the need of spending their money on monthly or yearly membership fees. If Medium Creators can add other payment options, then writers from different parts of the world will be more willing to pay for the monthly/yearly membership fees, which will increase the revenue of Medium Creators.
• Increase in their number of subscribers. Medium Creators should add other payment options for writers to easily get paid. Writers will be more willing to pay for the subscription/membership fees when they can benefit from earning on the platform.

Some Medium users do not want to pay for the membership fees because of this reason: “why should we pay for membership fees if we can not receive earnings as a writer on this platform"

We can not deny the fact that earning money from doing what you love is a motivation to do more of what you love. When someone gives you a gift for a job well done, you feel thankful, thereby putting more effort into your work.

What is stopping Medium from adding other payment options like PayPal, Payoneer, Wise, and the rest?
